ABAP tricks #21/100: 😀 CONV Operator

• The CONV operator enforces conversions from one type to another and creates an appropriate result.  Conversion is carried out according to SAP standard conversion rules.

• If the conversion is not possible, the program will react with an exception. 

Exception class CX_SY_CONVERSION_ERROR can be used to catch exceptions.

• The operator is particularly suitable for avoiding the declaration of helper variables.

• No empty parentheses can be specified after CONV to construct an initial value of the specified type.
