ABAP tricks #21/100: šŸ˜€ CONV Operator

• TheĀ CONVĀ operator enforces conversions from one type to another and creates an appropriate result. Ā Conversion is carried out according toĀ SAP standard conversion rules.


• If the conversion is not possible, the program will react with an exception.Ā 


Exception class CX_SY_CONVERSION_ERROR can be used to catch exceptions.


• The operator is particularly suitable for avoiding the declaration of helper variables.


• No empty parentheses can be specified afterĀ CONVĀ to construct an initial value of the specified type.
